An RX 7950 XTX spotted in the wild?

On a Korean forum, we learn that one of its members was able to acquire an AMD graphics card… Its heatsink, at least. The latter is massive, much larger than the original RX 7900 XTX. It’s also capable of accommodating three 8-pin PCIe power connectors, but the big question is which card was it intended for? Was an RX 7950 XTX in the pipeline?

RX 7950 XTX: was a card in the works at AMD?

From the photos shared, we can see that the heatsink is indeed massive. It easily exceeds that of the RX 7900 XTX in terms of size, despite the use of three fans. As if NVIDIA wasn’t the only one thinking in terms of large graphics cards, we’re unfortunately unable to give any further indication as to the destination card.

Indeed, even though the owner shares photos of the various barcodes, they don’t point to anything concrete. Still, AMD seems to be working on a big card. Cooling takes up more than three slots in a PC case, while its length is close to or even exceeds 30 cm!

Stylistically, we’re on a par with the 7000 series, with white light inserts, a slightly angular shell, a RADEON reminder on the edge and three red fins.

The power supply section features a slot for up to three 8-pin PCIe. This provides 525W of power for the GPU. Yes, each connector can transmit up to 150W, to which must be added 75W via PCIe.

Here, the reds could have had a Navi 21 XTXH on steroids, with doped frequencies, but obviously the project was nipped in the bud, and the only thing we’re left with is a heatsink that a lucky fellow was able to acquire and share photos of.
