It’s been a strange summer for AMD, with a particularly chaotic launch of the Ryzen 9000. But according to the latest rumors, a new Ryzen X3D processor is due to arrive in the next few days. Surprise, it’s not a Ryzen 9000 but a Ryzen 5 7600X3D. In terms of configuration, there should be no surprises, with the same recipe as on other X3D versions. This newcomer will be based on the same configuration (6 cores and 12 threads) as its initial version. For the moment, the unknown lies in the frequencies. They should be lower than the 5.30 GHz found on the Ryzen 7600X. In terms of cache memory, barring any major surprises, we could be looking at 102 MB of cache memory, broken down as follows: 32 MB of L3 cache, plus an additional 64 MB (thanks to 3D V-Cache technology). Together with the L2 cache, this gives a total of 102 MB of cache. For the sake of completeness, the TDP should also be up, probably from 105 to 120W for this version.

Ryzen 7600X3D: another thorn in the side of the Ryzen 9000s
Now we just need to know the price positioning of this newcomer. A processor that could equip “entry-level” gaming machines, depending on its positioning. And that’s where things aren’t going to be easy. In Europe, the 7800X3D is currently priced at between €380 and €390 / in the USA, at $360. This reference is really overshadowing the new Ryzen 9000. In these conditions, a lower price (which seems logical) for this 7600X3D would put the first models in the new Ryzen 9000 range in even greater difficulty.
Feedback from our community is unanimous when it comes to the Ryzen 9000. Although this new generation is generating interest and the overall improvements are being hailed, when it comes to making a choice, the price/performance trade-off takes over. At this point, the 7000X3D generation wins the day. Add to this the fact that AMD is continuing to bring its Ryzen AM4s to life, with a potential Ryzen 5500X3D on the way, and it’s clear that the commercial future of Ryzen 9000s will involve a sharp drop in price in the near future.
