AMD hunts down (too) low prices for its RX 6750 GRE!

As we mentioned in a previous article, AMD’s RX 6750 GRE is a big hit in China. The card’s performance/price ratio is so good that the company hasn’t even deigned to launch its RX 7600 XT there. However, as the card’s volumes are so high, some retailers are offering it under the MSRP. Clearly, this situation doesn’t suit the Reds, who don’t hesitate to impose penalties on local resellers!

AMD, penalties for RX 6750 GRE sold too low?

Sapphire RX 6750 GRE Aurora OCOfficially, the card was launched at a price of 2,219 yuan (~€285) for the 10GB version, compared with 2,379 yuan (~€306) for the 12GB version. In fact, the cards are selling so well, and stocks are sufficiently high, that some retailers are offering the card below the recommended retail price. It’s not impossible to find them at 2149 yuan (~276 €) and 2249 yuan (~290 €) respectively.

However, this situation does not please AMD, which does not hesitate to impose penalties on resellers. We learn from Wccftech that the first three times a seller is caught, he is “fined” 500 yuan (~64 €) per card. The fourth time, this penalty rises to 1000 yuan (~€128) per card sold, while AMD stops all card allocations for the reseller.

Clearly, these sanctions are bearing fruit, as it is becoming increasingly difficult to find cards below the official selling price. In short, an unusual move for AMD.
