Small tour in Germany with the brand Alpenföhn which offers us two new fans. Indeed, the company launches its Brocken 4 and Brocken 4 Max, single and double tower heatsinks!
The Brocken 4, the single tower model!
With this model, the brand offers us a single tower heatsink rather imposing. The set measures indeed 119 (W) x 127 (D) x 155 (H) mm. So we have a very thick heatsink, so much so that the base is eccentric towards the front to limit the problems of compatibility with the RAM. Anyway, it is also a fairly heavy heatsink with its ~1.1 kg on the scale.
The heatsink consists of a stack of aluminum fins crossed by a total of six 6 mm copper heat pipes. These are joined at the level of the nickel-plated copper base. Moreover, as we can see, the finishing seems neat since we find an integral black treatment on the heat pipes and the aluminum fins. The upper part has caps for heat pipes with the logo of the brand.
Ventilation is provided by a 120 x 27 mm JetStream mill. Powered by PWM, it operates from 400 RPM to 1600 RPM. Finally, the air flow will reach 94 m3/h.
The Brocken 4 Max, the double turn model!
The Max model is otherwise more imposing with its 127 (W) x 129 (D) x 158 (H) mm. It is also heavier with a weight of 1,263g on the scale.
Just like its single tower counterpart, this model also has a nickel-plated copper base that is eccentric to the front. But that’s not the only trick to reduce interference with the RAM. In fact, the front fan is in slim format and is 16mm thick… Anyway, it doesn’t take away the fact that this version has six copper heatpipes and that they run through two cooling towers.
On the fan side, the first model, the JetStream slim will run from 400 rpm to 1800 rpm. At full speed, the airflow will be 89.4 m3/h versus 94 m3/h for the non-slim model.
Finally, these two heatsinks are mounted on the same platforms. They are therefore compatible with LGA-1700/1200/115x and AM4/5.
