Alienware, Dell’s subsidiary, has just unveiled a 500Hz screen at a price of $829.99. If this 24″ arrives in Europe, it should be close to 1000€. So if this price and these characteristics seem crazy to some (we’re talking about a simple 24.5″ 1080P offering 480Hz and 500Hz by overclocking), you can be sure that there is an audience for this type of product.

Alienware AW2524H 500Hz: Finally something other than TN

The Alienware AW2524H has a refresh rate of 480 Hz which is overclocked to 500 Hz, but the real surprise is that it uses an IPS panel rather than the usual TN. A choice that should allow it to offer a better color accuracy and viewing angles. Because it is not the first monitor offering 500hz. During its opening speech at Computex 2022, Nvidia presented an Asus monitor with the same refresh rate, but it had a TN panel.

For details, we’ll note that the display benefits from Nvidia’s G-Sync and Reflex Analyzer technologies. The Vesa DisplayHDR 400 certification, a customizable RGB backlight and a retractable headphone support complete the package. As for connectivity, the display offers 4x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, two 3.5mm audio jacks, a DisplayPort 1.4 connector and two HDMI 2.1 ports. For the record, it is essential to use the Display Port to enjoy this 500 Hz refresh rate. With an HDMI connection, this monitor is limited to “only” 240 Hz. The target of this product is clearly competitive gaming and sports.

The Alienware AW2524H will be launched on March 21. For the moment only the US price has been confirmed.
