The RX 9070 GRE is definitely starting to spread, and quite rapidly at that. Initially, the card was to be exclusive to China, but we learned here that it would be exported to Taiwan. Today, we learn that this model will appear in Hong Kong via Felton Distribution
RX 9070 GRE: the card is no longer exclusive to China?
In the case of the RX 9070 GRE, we find a card that exploits a Navi 48 GPU also used in the RX 9070 XT and non-XT. However, this version is more limited, with only 3072 stream processors. Similarly, memory is no longer based on 16 GB of 256-bit GDDR6, but on a smaller capacity: 12 GB with a bus limited to 192 bits. Memory bandwidth is reduced to 432 GB/s, compared with 644.6 GB/s for a non-XT RX 9070.
In short, the news here is that the card will arrive in Hong Kong via Felton Distribution. The latter will import the ASRock model, in its Steel Legend Dark version. This is a customized board with a three-fan heatsink, but above all a gray/black theme that makes a radical change from the other Steel Legend versions, which are usually gray/white.
What’s rather disconcerting here is the speed at which the board is being exported. We’ve seen GRE models find their way abroad. This was notably the case with the RX 7900 GRE, which even went on sale in Europe, but it was a slow process. With this model, we’re talking about rapid export: not even two months after its introduction on the Chinese market. Is AMD aware that there’s a gaping hole between its RX 9060 XT and RX 9070 non-XT, and would the brand allow this GRE model to be exported to close the gap quickly? Perhaps. In any case, if anyone from AMD passes by, we’re all ears in Europe!
