AMD’s RX 9000s, including the RX 9070 XT, are due to be announced shortly. AMD is preparing a launch conference for February 28, with availability of the cards set for March 6. At the same time, however, it would appear that some media outlets have started to receive their test copies, as this Linux capture shows. It shows a Gigabyte model in testing.
RX 9070 XT: a Gigabyte model on Unigine Heaven!
Via @GawroskiT‘s X account, we can lay our eyes on a screenshot showing a Gigabyte 9070 XT Gaming OC at work on Unigine Heaven. The test is quite demanding and will put a lot of strain on your graphics card. In this screenshot, we can see that when the benchmark is launched, over a period of a few seconds, the card in question quickly reaches a boost frequency of 3244 MHz while consuming around 330W. At the time of capture, temperature-wise, things were OK, with 50°C reported on the GPU. However, the capture was taken not even 20s after the test was launched. It would therefore have been interesting to see at what temperature the card would have stabilised. The same goes for frequency.
In any case, if these values can be frightening, you should know, once again, that this is a benchmark. The latter are generally more violent for your hardware and put more stress on your components than video games. On a game of Assassin’s Creed, for example, it wouldn’t be surprising to see lower power consumption and lower temperatures.
What’s more, we’re talking here about a card customised by Gigabyte. This card has higher frequencies and higher power consumption than the reference specifications. In fact, some models even have three 8-pin PCIe power connectors, as is the case with the Mercury version of XFX, for example.
Finally, the last mystery to be solved concerns the sale price of the cards.
