A quick look at the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which is due to arrive very soon. The date of 7 November has been mentioned on the web, with the announcement coming a day after the actual launch of Arrow Lake. Between you and me, AMD is trying to mess with Intel’s head by announcing its processor at such short notice!
Ryzen 9800X3D: launch on 7 November?
For the record, AMD processors equipped with 3D V-Cache memory are particularly popular with gamers. The extra 64 MB of L3 cache are clearly beneficial for performance. In the space of just a few generations, AMD has managed to regain the upper hand over Intel in the gaming processor sector, and now, after a lacklustre launch of the Ryzen 9000X, we’re waiting for the Ryzen 9000X3D to arrive very soon: on 7 November.
As for gaming performance, we’ve had a sneak preview of what this model can deliver at this address. The same goes for Intel, which has announced that Arrow Lake’s performance is generally inferior to that of the Ryzen 7000X3D in games. This new 9800X3D could be very powerful.
What’s more, with this new model, we’ll have a model with 8 cores and 16 threads, all equipped with a 64 MB 3D V-Cache tile. In terms of frequencies, these should be particularly high. A recent leak reported a frequency of 5.2 GHz for all cores, or 200 MHz better than a 7800X3D.
Now for the price, wjm47196, known for his leaks, indicates that this would not be a cheap processor. As a reminder, the 7800X3D was launched at a hefty price of $449. So we can expect a price tag at least as high for this new model.
