Our colleagues at Videocardz have just unveiled the first photo of the ROG Z890 APEX motherboard. As its name suggests, this overclocking-oriented motherboard will be built around INTEL’s next high-end chipset, the Z890. Our colleagues tell us that the official launch of the next generation of processors and chipsets is scheduled for October 10, with tests to be published on October 24.
But let’s get back to this ROG Z890 APEX. The first piece of good news is that it retains a predominantly white colour, both on the PCB and on the various radiators. It’s not unlike the previous-generation ROG Z790 APEX. There are a few changes here, though, as the socket has been upgraded from LGA-1700 to LGA-1851 to accommodate Arrow Lake processors. It should also support the new UDIMM DDR5 memory kits equipped with a CKD (Client Clock Driver) chip.
Let’s hope to see this model, which is so dear to our hearts here within the editorial staff, arrive soon, to make the most of the Arrow Lake processors. This is the most interesting model for overclockers, although MSI is determined to reproduce its Unify-X model on the Z890 chipset.
