The news has been shared all over the media, Guru3D, TechpowerUp, @chamberTech_ (Twitter), MSI is preparing a new Z890 Unify-X. This is a series we haven’t seen since the Z690 Unify-X and B550 Unify-X, and it looks like it’s making a comeback with Arrow Lake.

Z890 Unify-X: the great return of the series!

Originally, with this series of motherboards, MSI offered top-of-the-range references aimed at overclockers. To do this, the company offered us an ultra-sober board, with no aRGB lighting and features dedicated to practical use. With this new model, we’re keeping the same spirit, only… we’re back to RGB.

In short, the programme includes an ATX format card equipped with an eight-layer PCB known as Ultra Low Loss. On this PCB are mounted 20+1+1+1 phase 110A power supplies. Finally, there are two EPS12V CPUs to power the Core Ultra 200 that will be mounted on the motherboard.

On the RAM side, there are two DDR5 memory slots. Generally speaking, this configuration allows for better overclocking, but it remains to be seen in practice.

The rest of the connectors feature four PCIe: x2 in 5.0, one in 4.0 x4 and the last in x1 4.0. Otherwise, for storage, we have six M.2s, two of which are PCIe 5.0, complemented by six SATA IIIs.

Finally, the card offers a number of features such as tool-free M.2 mounting and a simplified PCIe release system. Otherwise, the card is covered in shields of all kinds, and there’s a futuristic I/O Shield !
