While most testers are puzzled by the new Ryzens, especially when compared to the performance/price ratio of the previous generation, AMD has apparently decided to give its 9600X and 9700X a shot of anabolic steroids by increasing their TDP from 65W to 105W… This would leave us with the initial TDP of the Ryzen 7 7700X. The miracle would be achieved by means of an AGESA 1.2.0.1a Bios update. Obviously, we’ll have to check whether there are any changes to the base and turbo frequencies on the cores of these two processors. Up to now, we’ve been dreaming of AMD going against Intel… But when you want to get more power, in the end, there’s no miracle, you have to send more sauce… In this case, we’re talking about a TDP increase of nearly 62%... Obviously, if this story is true.

At the end of the day, all this leads us to indulge the worst conspiracy impulses. We had a hard time swallowing the delayed launch of the Ryzen for a “silk-screening error”… Big but with Intel’s worries it made us laugh. Not all our tests went “logically”, with bizarre behavior. After all, we’re often accused of being too fussy or even critical. But still, it’s a lot. Just like these 65W Ryzen 9000X versions: great in fact, but what would be the TDP of future non-X Ryzen 9000s? 35W ?
In short, as you can imagine, we’re wondering. Of course, we’ve been in touch with CornerJack, who’s also wondering (in his own way). He sent me this photo to share his doubts…
