MSI announces a very big motherboard with its WS WRX80. Indeed, it will be possible to install a Threadripper Pro 5000 CPU and ECC RAM as an example!
WS WRX80 : a workstation motherboard for MSI !
With this model, MSI offers us an impressive card in E-ATX format. It features a WRX80 chipset and a sWRX8 socket. In short, with this configuration, we are ready for the Threadripper Pro 5000WX and Threadripper Pro 3000WX CPUs.
The connectivity is plentiful since it has no less than seven PCIe 4.0 x16 connectors, all reinforced. An ideal configuration for multi-GPU machines. However, that’s not all, the storage part features eight SATA and two U.2. Finally, for the SSDs, there are two M.2 in PCIe 4.0 x4, however, MSI may well provide an expansion card with four other M.2.
Regarding the power supply, we can already notice the 24-pin ATX connectors and the dual 8-pin EPS12V on the side of the card. However, at the bottom, there are also two 6-pin PCIe connectors to bring some juice to the graphics part. Finally, as far as the processor is concerned, we learn that it has 11 power supply phases with 105A SPS.
Finally, at the back, we find a double Ethernet socket to support the network in 10 GbE. Likewise, the WiFi is also part of the game as well as the IPMI and BMC functions via an ASPEED AST2600 chip.
For the moment, no price, but clearly, it will hit hard on the wallet.
