Civilization VII is one of the great names in strategy games. The turn-based series lets you defeat your opponents in a variety of ways. So, what PC configuration do you need to play the next opus? We take a look.

Civilization VII: what about PC configurations?

Without further ado, we’d like to point out that the minimum configuration for playing the game is very affordable. To play in 1080p at 30 FPS, you’ll need a Core i3 10100 or a Ryzen 3 1200 and 8GB of RAM. As for the graphics card, you’ll need a small GTX 1050, an RX 460 or an Arc A380. Needless to say, these are entry-level components from several generations ago. However, you’ll need to set the graphics options to the minimum, which could get a bit ugly.

The recommended configuration will allow you to play in 1080p at 60fps with detail in medium. Here, you’ll need more recent, higher-end hardware, in particular a Core i5 10400 or a Ryzen 5 3600X. Memory is increased to 16 GB, while an RTX 2060, an RX 6600 or an A750 are recommended for the graphics.

Finally, we end with the Ultra configuration, which will allow you to play in UHD, at 60 FPS, all with high graphics options. Under these conditions, you’ll need a pretty hefty processor: we’re talking about a Core i7 14700F or a Ryzen 9 5950X. For RAM, we’re taking things up a notch with 32GB of memory, while an RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT is recommended for the GPU. There’s no Intel recommendation here, as the company doesn’t have what it takes to compete in these sectors.

Finally, a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 system will be required, and 20GB of storage will be needed to install the game. Firaxis also recommends using an SSD.
