Head over to the Twitter account of Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan, who presents a new version of his Viper Mini mouse. Indeed, the company boss unveils a mouse in 24-carat gold. Now the question: solid or plated gold? Because, as the CEO himself says, this is an “incredibly exclusive” order!
Viper Mini: a single mouse in 24-carat gold!
As you can see, this model takes up the features of the Signature Edition version. Instead of a magnesium shell, however, it is now available in 24-carat gold. Once again, the question of material is important, as plating is cool in itself, but less impressive than a solid gold shell. What’s more, with solid gold, the mouse won’t weigh 49 g, but rather 49 kg.
Obviously, the specifications are not known, but we imagine they are based on the original model. If this is the case, we’re likely to find a wireless model equipped with an optical sensor capable of up to 30,000 DPI. On the switch side, the switches should have a life expectancy of 90 million activations, while the polling rate should reach 4,000 Hz. Once again, if this exclusive version takes up the features of the magnesium model, the dimensions would be as follows: 62 (W) x 119 (D) x 39 (H) mm for a weight of well over 49g.
As for the price: to get an idea, the original model was priced at €319.99. Nevertheless, before you cry scandal, you should know that this mouse is unlikely to see a carpet in its lifetime. It’s clearly a collector’s item.
