ASUS has added a new feature to its AM5 motherboards. This is achieved via a bios update and integrates Turbo Game Mode. This enhances the gaming performance of compatible processors.

Turbo Game Mode: improve your gaming performance via a bios update!

For the moment, this feature is available on the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero, but it will be extended to the brand’s other boards. We understand that the X670(E), B650(E) and A620 models will soon be concerned.

As for how it works, this function will disable one of the two chiplets of Ryzen processors and cut multithreading, also reducing potential intercore latencies. The aim here is to maximize single-core performance, which can be very useful in certain cases… especially games that don’t take advantage of a large number of threads.

Otherwise, the update also contains the AGESA 1.2.0.2a code, which includes a number of enhancements to boost the performance of AMD processors, according to Guru3D. This update is also being deployed by other manufacturers such as Gigabyte and MSI.

In short, to update your card, you’ll need to get hold of this new bios on the ASUS website, support section, Driver & Utility tab, then go to Bios & Firmware. Installation will take place via your card’s bios, using the EZ Flash tool or Bios Flashback.

UPDATE: Of course, if you activate this operating mode, you can expect to see a drop in performance in core-intensive applications.
