Trak Racer Joins Corsair: An Acquisition That Significantly Strengthens the Fanatec Ecosystem
Corsair appears to be making a serious push into sim racing with the acquisition of Trak Racer’s assets, announced on August 5, 2026. The Australian manufacturer, founded in 2008 by Matt Sten, is best known for its simulation cockpits, seats, monitor mounts, and accessories. If you’re familiar with Trak Racer, you’ll immediately see that this acquisition fills a clear gap in Corsair’s product lineup. But don’t assume the brand will be absorbed under the Fanatec label. Trak Racer will retain its own identity and, therefore, its distinct name. There will be no merging of the product line into the Fanatec catalog. Their product range will therefore remain separate, spanning from entry-level cockpits to top-of-the-line models, including the TR550, their dedicated flight simulator (a category previously absent from the Corsair catalog). The immediate change for Track Racer is access to global distribution, whereas the company previously sold its products exclusively through its website—shipping them from Australia. This integration should therefore make it easier for the company to reach brick-and-mortar retailers and tap into new markets.
Why this move makes sense:
In practice, a quick glance at the two product lines shows that Fanatec provides the simulator’s electronic components, including Direct Drive bases, steering wheels, pedal sets, and gearshifters. Trak Racer, for its part, provides the physical structure (the chassis) that houses all this equipment. Above all, this acquisition gives Corsair the ability to control a much larger portion of the hardware ecosystem surrounding sim racing. With Fanatec, the group already had a major player in the field of racing peripherals. Trak Racer now brings cockpits, seats, mounts, motion systems, and haptic feedback. Corsair thus highlights the potential to develop a more comprehensive sim racing platform focused on turnkey solutions. The acquisition also opens the door to flight simulation. The Trak Racer TR550 Flight Simulator, in particular, provides an existing foundation for this activity. The technical requirements are similar to those of a car cockpit: a rigid structure, ergonomics, precise positioning of controls and screens, haptic feedback, and potentially motion systems.
Finally, this deal is not just a matter of product catalogs, as Matt Sten, the founder of Trak Racer, is now joining Corsair as Chief Technical Officer for simulation solutions.
