[Rumor] RTX 40 Super refresh on the way?

0

As we told you here, the next generation of NVIDIA graphics cards to see the light of day will be Blackwell. However, it’s not going to happen any time soon, since we’re talking about the end of 2024 or even 2025, depending on the case. That leaves plenty of time for the company to offer a series of refresh cards. Apparently, RTX 40 Super cards are in the pipeline, but we’re dealing with rumors, so be careful!

RTX 40 Super: towards an RTX 40 refresh?

RTX super

Of course, the specifications of the cards are not known, at least not at this stage. However, leaker @hongxing2020 reports that three cards will be involved in this “dust-up”. Clearly, the greens have plans for a 4080 Super, a 4070 Ti Super and a 4070 Super.

For the record, this Super denomination was initially introduced with the RTX 2000 Super in 2019, when the series was given a facelift. However, this denomination only concerned non-Ti cards, whereas here we can see that it concerns an RTX 4070 Ti. Clearly, there’s nothing to stop NVIDIA offering such a card after all.

However, if ever a card deserved an upgrade, it’s the RTX 4060. As it stands, its 8 GB of memory and small 128-bit bus place it more in the XX50 segment than the 60 segment, which is the memory configuration of the RTX 3050 by way of example. Getting back in line with the RTX 3060 would be a good thing after all.
