New rumours are surfacing about potential cards from NVIDIA. Indeed, it is rumoured that the brand is working on a series of refresh cards in the Super series. Two models are said to be in the pipeline: the RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Super. The main change will come in the form of more memory!

RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Super: just more VRAM?

The aim of this series of cards would simply be to provide more memory, especially for the RTX 5070 which, at present, with its 12GB of VRAM, suffers in comparison with the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. Ultimately, however, this would allow the cards to be more at ease in certain very high resolutions where large textures and important assets need to be loaded. What’s more, extra memory also makes sense for applications in particular.

In short, rumours suggest that the new RTX 5080 will have 24GB of memory, compared with 18GB for the 5070. The memory upgrade will simply be a matter of opting for 3 GB memory chips instead of the current 2 GB. An RTX 5080 currently has eight 2GB chips, compared with six for the 5070. Switching to 3 GB modules will make it possible to achieve the capacities mentioned. What’s more, it wouldn’t entail any changes to the memory bus or GPU configuration. Perhaps we’ll be entitled to an increase in frequency to make a bigger impact!

It remains to be seen whether this is part of NVIDIA’s current plans, and we’re curious to see what impact this will have on sales prices. Remember that the RTX 5080 was announced at $999, compared with $549 for the 5070. In short, we’ll keep an eye on it.
