RTX 4090 Matrix, expect to pay a handsome $3200!

This time, the RTX 4090 Matrix from Asus is officially here. The only problem is the price tag, which is going to be a long way off… But so very far… On the other hand, we mustn’t lose sight of the fact that this is an exceptional card whose aim is to break records by the bucketful. And it’s done just that!

RTX 4090 Matrix: the fastest 4090, but also the most expensive!

Asus RTX 4090 MatrixAs we said, with this card, Asus offers the ultimate in performance. The brand has equipped its card with an all-in-one watercooling system. It features a 360 mm radiator topped by three 120 mm fans.

However, while a 320 mm AIO on a graphics card is déjà vu, it’s the execution behind it that’s unusual. In fact, for cooling purposes, the card uses liquid metal as a thermal interface. Asus therefore leaves thermal paste out of the equation. What’s more, as this is a production board, the GPU has to be protected from the conductivity of the TIM(Thermal Interface Material). To this end, the GPU ‘s capacitors benefit from UV resin protection, while a protective barrier is present to prevent liquid metal from leaking out.

A large copper base covers the GPU, memory and power supply stages. The pump, meanwhile, is positioned just above the GPU. The aim is to quickly capture the heat emitted by the GPU.

Naturally, all this makes for quite a lot of gear, and the frequencies have to keep up, which is also the case. Asus has announced a boost capable of reaching 2700 MHz in OC mode, compared with the default 2670 MHz. To give you an idea, the reference RTX 4090 runs at 2520 MHz in boost mode. So we have a rather substantial factory OC, dethroning Colorful’s Neptune OC series with 2640 MHz boost.

Once again, the main problem is the card’s retail price. While the RTX 4090 is already very expensive by default (€1,800 to €2,000), this Matrix model pushes the envelope with a starting price of $3200. Once again, this is an exceptional card that will not be produced in large quantities.
