Last July, we learned that Asus was preparing a new card, the RTX 4060 Ti SSD. The special feature of this model is that it features an M.2 format SSD slot on its PCB. The aim was to use the card’s unused PCIe lines. Unfortunately, availability may be limited to just a few countries.

RTX 4060 Ti SSD: launch plans from Asus Russia!

Asus RTX 4060 Ti M.2For the record, an RTX 4060/Ti only uses a PCIe 4.0 x8 interface, which in itself doesn’t hinder its performance. However, on your motherboard’s PCIe x16 connector, there are 8 unused lines. To solve this problem, what better way than to integrate a PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot into your graphics card?

It’s a good idea, since it gives your configuration an additional M.2 slot. This is particularly interesting if your motherboard is limited in this respect. It’s also interesting in terms of cooling the SSD. The latter benefits from the airflow provided by the graphics card heatsink. According to initial tests, the storage temperature is reduced by 10°C.

Via the EEC website, we learn that Asus has registered two versions of the card. This model could be offered with the reference frequencies of the RTX 4060 Ti, while a factory overclocked version could well be offered. However, the launch would be very limited, as only Asus Russia seems to be in a position to market the card. That’s a shame.
