ASUS has unveiled its new ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE V2 Lava Red keyboard. Behind that lengthy model name lies a model that’s entirely bright red—one thing’s for sure, it won’t go unnoticed on your desk. But its nickname tells us it uses Hall Effect switches and comes in a 75% layout… Still, it’s a bit too red for our taste. We’ll let you decide for yourself.

ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE V2 Lava Red: a red keyboard!

Compact with HE switches!

ASUS ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE V2 Lava RedWith this keyboard, ASUS offers a compact model in a 75% layout. As you can see, it lacks a numeric keypad but retains the arrow keys and navigation keys. At the top of the keyboard, you’ll notice a control dial, primarily for volume. A touchpad is integrated into the top section, and a button is located just behind the “Esc” key. You can customize all of these features to your liking.

Internally, ASUS uses its own in-house magnetic switches. These are hot-swappable, so you can replace them with other switches if you’d like. By default, it comes with ROG HFX V2 and V2X switches. The difference lies in the actuation force required: 32g for the V2 and 30g for the V2X. Be warned—this might be quite sensitive.

But since these are magnetic switches, you can adjust the actuation point height via the software and manually using a dedicated dial. Of course, there’s also a SOCD mode that allows you to prioritize one key when two are pressed simultaneously.

Finally, the keyboard features an optimally isolated keywell with six layers of different materials. On top of that, it comes with a carrying case and an “L”-shaped USB-C cable. Oh, and the keycaps are made of PBT as well.

Pricing:

The retail price, however, won’t be cheap, as it’s already listed in France for €229.99. In the meantime, this makes for a very appealing keyboard on paper, available in a polarizing color scheme: you’ll either love it or really hate it. In any case, you have to admit it’s a bit out of the ordinary.
