ROG Ally 2 leaks!

Oh oh, a new leak in the field of portable game consoles, with the ROG Ally 2 showing itself in photos. In fact, the leak took place during the filing for FCC certification in the USA and certifications in Indonesia. Although the console is visible, it is unfortunately not powered up. This leaves some doubts about the software.

ROG Ally 2: time for photos!

Clearly, we can count on two versions of the console… At least. In fact, here we have a white version and a black model. But it’s not just the color that makes the difference, as the internal configuration also changes.

The black model seems to be the more advanced version, with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU featuring 8 cores, while operating at a TDP of 36W. In contrast, the white version benefits from a four-core Aerith Plus chip. While the memory configuration for this second model is not yet known, the black console is said to run on 64 GB of LPDDR5X-8533.

The screen features a 7″ slab operating at 120 Hz. It remains to be seen what resolution will be used.

The grip seems to be moving in the right direction, with handles that are more akin to a joystick. This inevitably gives the console a chunkier appearance, but if it means feeling more at ease, we’re not going to complain. What’s more, the black console seems to feature an XBox button, suggesting further integration of Microsoft services. This model could well run Windows 11, while the white model could offer Steam OS integration?

In any case, the wait shouldn’t be much longer, and a presentation/announcement could well be made at Computex.
