We make a small tour on the side of Kingmax which announces its series of SSD PQ4480. It is question here of an offer located on the sector of the entry of range, if only by the proposed capacities.

PQ4480: an entry-level SSD from Kingmax!

KingMax PQ4480 The brand announces a total of three SSDs with the following capacities: 250 GB, 500 GB and 1 TB. As we said, it does not look very high, no more 2 TB or 4 TB versions.

Internally, the brand does not specify which controller or which DRAM are at work. However, our colleagues suspect that it is a Phison PS5019-E19T controller without DRAM cache. It would also be coupled with memory type 3D TLC. Finally, even if Kingmax mentions the presence of a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, the data rates are closer to a PCIe 3.0.

By the way, while we’re on the subject, let’s talk about performance. Thus, all three models are capable of reading up to 3600 MB/s sequentially. For writing, we have :

  • 250 GB : 1200 Mb/s
  • 500 GB : 2300 MB/s
  • 1Tb : 3000 Mb/s

The brand also communicates on random performance which is, at best, 400k/450k IOPS in read-write. Finally, the maximum endurance will be 600 TBW for the 1 TB model.

For the moment, we only have to know the selling price of each of these models. Nevertheless, we know that the warranty is 3 years.
