Phison is heading for the professional SSD market. Even though the company supplies controllers to many brands, particularly in the consumer sector, it also produces Pro SSDs. Today we learn that the Pascari series will offer 128TB variants!

Pascari D205V: 128TB Pro SSDs

Phison Pascari D205VWith its new SSDs, Phison is offering us huge capacities with 128TB of storage. In terms of performance, while these models benefit from a PCIe 5.0 interface, the sequential data rates are unusual, to say the least. In fact, these SSDs are very fast in read mode: 14.6 GB/s, but rather slow in write mode with only 3.2 GB/s. In terms of random performance, we’re talking about 3,000k IOPS for reading and just 35k IOPS for writing.

Internally, the brand will be using 2Tb 3D QLC memory, while an in-house X2 controller is at work. Finally, we have learned that this series will be available in U.2 and E3.L formats.

For the moment, we don’t know how much it will cost, but given the storage capacity, it’s likely to be far from affordable. On the other hand, this is a product aimed at data centres and other professional use. As for availability, it looks like we’ll have to wait until the second quarter of 2025.
