Thermal Grizzly has announced a new thermal pad, PhaseSheet PTM, which replaces thermal paste. The pad is claimed to be non-conductive, yet offers high thermal conductivity!
PhaseSheet PTM: a non-conductive phase-change thermal pad!
At first glance, one might be tempted to think that this solution already exists. Well, yes and no, since the brand already offers its Kryosheet and Carbonaut solutions based on grapheme and carbon. Here, we’re talking about a non-conductive phase-change solution.
The aim here is to replace thermal paste. The solution proposed here measures 50 x 40 mm and can therefore be installed on a processor or graphics card, for example. Application is also simplified by the presence of an applicator film.
In its press release, the brand points out that the pad has a very low viscosity when in its liquid state. This reduces the pump-out effect. Unlike traditional thermal pastes, the pad will stay firmly in place. With conventional thermal paste, with the pressure exerted by the cooling system and the CPU heat that can fluidize it, the latter tends to go on vacation, escaping all over the place.
There is, however, a slight drawback to this solution, which takes a little time to stabilize. The brand mentions ten heating cycles above 60°C.
In short, an interesting product, especially if you’re a little careless when it comes to maintaining your PC. In fact, with this product, the cycles between two maintenances are lengthened. The official price is $10.59!
