No RTX 5090 for 16 weeks in the UK!

As we saw on the day of their launch, stocks of RTX 5000s were very low… So low, in fact, that the RTX 5090s were gone in a matter of moments, while the RTX 5080s, although they lasted a little longer, didn’t last long either. We’re currently out of stock, and the situation in the UK isn’t much better. In fact, Overclockers.co.uk reports that this will be the case for many weeks to come!

According to Overclockers.co.uk, the next RTX 5090 restocking will take place between 3 and 16 weeks!

RTX 5090

This is not good news, as the shortage could last for some time. According to Overclockers.co.uk, a major UK reseller of computer components, the restocking times are very long. The shop says that the card could be restocked between 3 and 16 weeks. Unfortunately, we have no idea how many cards will be available… But given the trend, we don’t expect entire containers to be delivered. What’s more, since the 3 to 16 weeks window is so wide, we suspect that the merchant doesn’t have a clear idea of when the cards will be restocked.

In the meantime, if you’re in the market for a top-of-the-range graphics card, you don’t have 36 options. Either go stock hunting, or fall back on the RTX 5080. Indeed, for the launch, while Micro Center in the US only had 200 5090s, the shop had ten times as many RTX 5080s. What’s more, we can expect the card to be in stock much more often than its big sister, with OC.co.uk indicating a restock within two to six weeks.

The question now is where the problem lies. Is it a production problem? Supply? Too much demand? It’s hard to say… In the meantime, it’s clear that the move was poorly planned, and that stocks were clearly insufficient to ensure a smooth launch. In the end, we wonder whether it would not have been better to postpone the launch of the cards in order to build up larger stocks.
