When it comes to AMD’s new Ryzen 9 9000X3D processors, we have a new player making its motherboards compatible. ASRock was the first to release compatible bios, and now MSI is following suit. Today we learn of the support of these new CPUs by the brand with the dragon!
MSI supports AMD’s Ryzen 9 9000X3D!
As a reminder, for the time being AMD has only launched its Ryzen 7 9800X3D X3D CPU, in a swift response to the disappointment of the launch of the original Ryzen 9000. However, the latter quickly became a victim of its own success, with stocks out until very recently and prices still very high.
However, there are still two models to be launched, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D, with 16 and 12 cores respectively. They also feature 3D V-Cache for improved performance in games and cache-hungry applications.
In short, as is often the case, this new support from MSI involves updating the motherboard bios. The update in question incorporates the AGESA 1.2.0.3a code in addition to support for these two processors. In addition to this, the updates also contain memory optimisations.
Of course, the procedure for updating your motherboard remains the same. You’ll need to download the bios in question, put it on a USB stick and insert it into a port on your board. Then, under the bios, go to MSI’s M-Flash utility. Alternatively, you can always update your card via the flashback bios by plugging your key into the correct USB port and pressing the dedicated button.
