UM870: 8 cores in a 0.82l PC!
With this new PC, Minisforum is announcing a computer with ultra-compact dimensions. The dimensions are 130 (W) x 126.5 (D) x 50.4 (H) mm, giving a volume of less than 1 litre after various conversions. In short, it’s very compact.
However, despite this compactness, the brand decided to install an AMD Ryzen 7 8745H processor, a model equipped with a total of 8 Zen4 cores, all with hyperthreading. In terms of frequencies, this model will run at 3.8 GHz as standard, with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.9 GHz. The TDPs here are 54W in balanced mode and 65W in performance mode!
Of course, you can’t count on a dedicated graphics unit; here, you’ll have to rely on the processor’s iGPU, which is none other than a RADEON 780M. It’s a GPU equipped with 12 compute units and 768 stream processors. Clearly, you can forget all about AAA games, but some competitive games will work.
As for memory, there are two SO-DIMM memory slots in DDR5 at 5600 MT/s, the kind of memory you’d expect from a laptop . As for maximum capacity, you won’t need to go over 96 GB. Otherwise, on the storage side, there are two PCIe 4.0 M.2s, each capable of handling 4TB SSDs.
As for connectivity, it’s complete with four USB-A (2x 2.0 2x 3.2 Gen3). Otherwise, there’s USB4,HDMI 2.1, an Ethernet socket and a 3.5 mm jack for audio. WiFi is also supported, but you’ll need to add a module via an M.2 2230 slot.
For prices, expect to pay $344 barebone (without RAM or storage).
