Let’s be honest, this MSI B850 MPOWER motherboard is certainly one of the boards we’ve been looking forward to the most, here at the editorial office, ever since it was first announced at Computex 2025!

Let’s start with a look back at the origins of the MPOWER series. Older users may remember the arrival of the very first MPOWER motherboard based on the Z77 chipset. This series was aimed at overclocking and featured a yellow and black PCB and radiators. In the end, MSI put an end to this series with the MSI MPOWER Z270 Gaming Titanium, which ensured the transition by coming in black and gray. We had to wait until last year, around the same time, to see a new MSI Z790 MPOWER

But with this MSI B850 MPOWER, it’s a real return to basics, with the original colors of black and yellow. It’s a board dedicated to overclocking, but mainly to memory, with two memory slots. We have no doubt that its processor overclocking capabilities are also very good. The motherboard is in mATX format (240 x 240 mm) and features a 12 + 2 + 1-phase power supply stage

The front panel features three storage slots. Access is easy: a simple press of the finger removes the heatsink. There are two PCIe 5.0 x4 slots and two PCIe 4.0 slots, as a fourth slot is located at the rear of the PCB

Last but not least, the overclocking tools are not located directly on the PCB, but on the EZ Dashboard. This is a piece of PCB with several functionalities: a Debug Code LED, a Clear CMOS button, a Reset button and a motherboard power button. Thanks to MSI  ,we look forward to testing this superb MSI B850 MPOWER in a few weeks’ time.
