ASUS has slipped up again, and is clearly going all out with the production of its new Harpe Ace Extreme mouse. In fact, the latter features a crazy construction based on real carbon fibre, not some vague imitation moulded in plastic!
Harpe Ace Extreme: real carbon fibre for the ASUS mouse!
Clearly, ASUS has given itself the means to produce an exceptional mouse with this new model. The upper shell and main clicks are made entirely from carbon fibre. This gives the mouse the strength of a ‘hulk’, while ensuring a featherweight of 47 grams for a wireless model!
Internally, the mouse features high-quality components, including a ROG AimPoint Pro optical sensor that reaches 42,000 DPI. It can handle maximum speeds of 750 fps and acceleration rates of 50G, while still being capable of tracking even on glass. On another note, the main switches are from ASUS, will require a force of 5g for activation and will be able to withstand 100 million activations. And it’s all mounted on a PCB optimised for weight
Finally, it’s a wireless model, battery life hasn’t been disclosed. However, ASUS claims a hyper-polling rate of 8000 Hz in wireless mode. Otherwise, the accessory section is more than complete, with replacement glide pads with a Corning Gorilla Glass set and adhesive stickers to improve the mouse’s grip. But given its carbon construction, it would be a shame to use them.
At the moment, we don’t know what the retail price will be, but it’s likely to be a hefty bill.
