DX-4189 : a series of Noctua cooling units for the new Intel Xeon !

0

Small news concerning Noctua since the Austrian brand has just announced a whole series of aircooling heatsinks. These heatsinks are designed for the Intel LGA-4189 socket, that of the Xeon Ice Lake Scalable. Given their very large IHS, the brand takes the opportunity to review the design of its products to make them compatible with this platform. Here is the DX-4189 series from Noctua.

DX-4189: four fans for Intel Xeon Ice Lake!

Noctua DX-4189

As you can see, the brand declines four of its flagship heatsinks for this famous socket LGA-4189. In the program, we find the NH-U9, NH-D9, NH-U12S and NH-14S. However, in order to properly cool the processors on which these products will be mounted, we find a copper base that has been enlarged… Seriously widened even.

For the moment, the brand offers heatsinks to meet all the needs or almost. Thus, the 92mm models will fit in 4U server racks while the larger models will fit in tower format servers.

However, don’t be fooled, there will be a few differences between this server range and the one intended for the general public sector. First of all, the NH-U12S DX-4189 comes with two NF-A12x25 fans instead of the NF-F12 for example. The same goes for the NH-U9 DX-4189 which offers two fans when the NH-U9S has only one. Finally, we note that the NH-D9 DX-4189 is larger and offers a more powerful ventilation than the NH-D9L.

Finally, Noctua also offers an adapter to mount its TR4-SP3 and DX-3647 series on this LGA-4189. Very practical for those who want to change their platform without renewing all their fans.

As for the selling prices, they are 109.90 € for the NH-D9, NH-U9 and NH-U14S. Finally, only the NH-U12S will be more expensive: 119.90 €.
