The DDR5 is coming soon and Corsair expresses itself on the subject. Indeed in a small video the brand speaks about the subject and indicates that this type of memory will be hotter than DDR4. But don’t panic, they have what it takes to keep your RAM cool!
DDR5: beware, it will be hotter than DDR4!
In its video, the brand indicates that this new memory standard could reach higher temperatures than the RAM currently in place. The reason behind this? The migration of the power management module from the motherboard to directly into the memory strip. Of course, all this generates extra heat, heat that must be dissipated.
On this subject, the brand takes the opportunity to remind us about their in-house heatsink. Once again, we should see the arrival of the famous DHX, a heatsink that has been at work for many years. In fact, it first appeared on DDR2 kits, then on DDR3 and now on DDR4. However, since all these years, the design has seriously evolved, but the principle remains the same.
By the way, if Corsair is facing this kind of problem, it will be the case for other manufacturers as well. In this respect, it will be interesting to see what their response will be. In the meantime, DDR5 will arrive in the next few months with Alder Lake, the 12th generation of Intel’s Core i. For AMD, we will have to wait for Zen4 in 2022.
