The Cryorig brand, which is once again active, has just unveiled a new reference with the VC091. This is in complete contrast to the brand’s Monster XX, a dual-tower heatsink with ten heatpipes. No, here we’re aiming for compactness, with a heatsink less than 60 mm high, but with a huge dissipation capacity: 180W!
VC091: 180W of heat dissipation for Cryorig!
With this heatsink, we have an ultra-compact reference that measures just 90 mm on each side for a height of less than 60 mm: 55.7 mm according to the dimensions communicated by the brand. Of course, this reference is aimed at ITX cases like Antec’s 1M, for example.
Otherwise, the radiator is pretty basic, at first glance. It has a total of 73 aluminium fins mounted directly on the base. However, there are no copper heat pipes. Instead, there is a large steam chamber that comes into direct contact with the processor. It is this chamber that will transfer the heat emitted by the CPU to the fins!
As far as compatibility is concerned, the brand is obviously content with mounting on mainstream motherboards. The VC091 can be installed on LGA-1851/1700/1200/115x models, as well as AMD’s AM4 and AM5.
Here, ventilation is provided by a small 90×25 mm mill using an FDB type bearing. This has a wide speed range, from 900 to 2850 rpm. At full speed, this small fan generates an airflow of 60.7 CFM, while the pressure reaches 25 Pa, or 2.55 mmH20 after conversion.
Now the question is, what about the price? Unfortunately, we won’t have the answer for the time being. However, we are very curious to know the performance offered by this little model. As a reminder, it is claimed to dissipate 180W. In other words, it could hold a Ryzen 9 9950X!
