Core Ultra 200 Plus: specs leaked

Intel Core Ultra 200 Plus processors have been leaked online. They reveal both core and frequency increases. However, a few questions remain unanswered, such as the speed of inter-die communication links. This is the kind of element that will be communicated at the launch of the processors and that can make all the difference.

Core Ultra 200 Plus: what about specs?

With this series of refresh processors, Intel intends to launch just a few new references, dusting off its K versions only. At least, that’s the situation that seems to be taking shape at the moment.

Broadly speaking, we’re looking at a Core Ultra 9 290K Plus with the same core count configuration. We find 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores. The main difference is in frequency: 100 MHz on the P-Cores. The CPU runs at 5.8 GHz, compared with 5.7 GHz for the Core Ultra 9 285K.

It’s with the other two CPUs that things get more interesting, since we’re talking here about an increase in the number of cores and, in some cases, an improvement in frequency. This is notably the case with the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, which goes from 6 P-Core and 8 E-Core with the Core Ultra 5 245K to 6 P-Core and 12 E-Core. But that’s not all: this processor also boasts an increase in frequency: 100 MHz on the P-Core, taking it from 5.2 GHz to 5.3 GHz.

Finally, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus gains “only” E-Cores, so it takes on four more, bringing its configuration down to Core Ultra 9 level… The main difference is in frequency, which is much lower: 5.5 GHz. Perhaps this is the model to go for, since the frequency deficit can easily be made up with a little overclocking.

The question now arises as to whether Intel will have improved the speed of communication between the dies of its processors, as well as between the SOC/NGU tile. At present, this is a weak point in the series. RAM support should also be improved, with native compatibility with DDR5 7200 MT/s.
