[Computex] Liquid cooling: Asetek holds its revolution (AI inside)

0

On the Asus stand at Computex 2024, Asetek presents the technology behind the new generation of liquid cooling. If the pitch is anything to go by, the company has found an alchemical formula to revolutionize the way liquid cooling works and performs. Using Fabric8Labs’ metal 3D printing technology, Asetek is working on cold plate designs optimized by AI. Asetek and Fabric8Labs have worked together to create parts using electrochemical additive manufacturing (ECAM) technology. This enables Asetek to create complex structures with excellent thermal properties. To be more precise, the combination of these technologies enables the creation of parts that cannot be built using conventional machining techniques.

We didn’t see it coming: AIO watercooling optimized with AI

Using these methods, Asetek can create cold plates that are better optimized for fluid dynamics. What’s more, we discover that AI has suggested the use of structures that have never been used in a cold plate before. AI-boosted modeling enables Asetek to use more complex geometries to deliver the best possible performance. The metal 3D printing technique is inseparable from its modeling methods. The shapes tested virtually during the modelling process are, according to the company, by no means feasible even with the best machining methods. It’s hard to say whether it’s really AI that’s revolutionizing all this, or whether we’re in for a dose of marketing sauce.

According to the company, this innovation is a game-changer. This new method will enable a significant reduction in temperature. The emphasis on sustainability means that enthusiasts can enjoy cutting-edge technology while being conscious of their environmental impact (obviously…)

For those who don’t know, Asetek is a Danish company founded in 2000. It is the leading developer and OEM producer of all-in-one liquid coolers for all major PC brands. The company was floated on the stock exchange in 2013.

For the moment, it’s not yet clear which brand will prioritize these innovations on its upcoming AIOs. The company’s presence on the Asus stand is perhaps no coincidence 🙂
