Cixin P1: a Chinese CPU with a 45-TOPS NPU!

Clearly, China is not that far behind in the technological field, far from it. The country has unveiled an entirely homemade processor, the Cixin P1, an ARM CPU equipped with an NPU that boasts 45 TOPS of power, putting it up on par with the Qualcomm X Elite… On paper at least !

With this processor, China is presenting a model based on ARM architecture with a total of 12 cores. This is a hybrid processor with eight performance cores operating at a maximum of 3.2 GHz. These are complemented by four efficient cores. However, the density of the engraving is also surprising, as it is produced in 6nm.

The other important aspect of this model is the part dedicated to artificial intelligence. Like recent CPUs, this model has an NPU. This NPU offers sufficient computing power to enable it to be Microsoft Copilot+ certified, as it boasts 45 TOPS. By way of comparison, this is equivalent to the power of the Qualcomm X Elite, but slightly less than the 50 TOPS of AMD’s Strix Point.

In addition, this CPU can manage up to 64 GB of LPDDR5 memory running at up to 6400 MT/s. There’s also support for ten displays, enabling 4K content to be displayed at 120 fps. Support for USB-C and PCIe 4.0 is also included.

Finally, we learn that this model would have taken 22 months to arrive between development, production and testing. What we’re not told, of course, is its actual performance. Let’s not forget that we’re dealing with China, and to feed their propaganda, there’s a world of difference between the announcement and reality. This is not meant in a derogatory way, we’re simply reminded of the actual performance of Moore Threads cards.
