After the Crosshair VIII Extreme, we return to the world of motherboards to talk about the C621A WS. As the name “WS” suggests, we are dealing with a motherboard intended for server use. And this time, it is a model signed ASRock!
C621A WS : ASRock launches a server board in LGA-4189!
With this model, ASRock offers us a reference with the huge socket LGA-4189 and an Intel C621A chipset. With this model, we are ready to host an Intel Xeon W3300 series processor.
Regarding memory, we have eight DIMM slots for RDIMM, LRDIMM and RDIMM-3DS/LRDIMM-3DS RAM. In terms of capacity, we can go up to a maximum of 256 GB with a frequency reaching 3200 MHz.
As far as PCIe is concerned, we can see that there are a lot of people with no less than seven slots. However, of these seven slots, four of them are in PCIe 4.0 x16 while the other three are in PCIe 4.0 x8.
When it comes to storage, ASRock equips its model with two M.2 connectors, one in PCIe 3.0 x4, the other in PCIe 3.0 x1. These M.2 ports will support Intel Optane technology and the SSDs installed there will be bootable. This storage part is also completed by the presence of two SATA III 6 Gb/s and a Mini-SAS HD port.
We quickly finish with the rear connectivity of this model, which already has a VGA output. But that’s not all, since there are numerous Ethernet ports, five to be precise. Among them, two are managed via an Intel X710-AT2 chip and two others via an Intel I210 chip. The last one will act as an IPMI port via an ASPEED AST2500 chip.
For now, no price, moreover, we learn that this model may not be distributed worldwide.
