Battlefield 2042 will be the next opus in the Electronic Arts franchise. Currently, the game is in development and we learn that different phases of playtests are planned. Moreover, these phases will start on August 12 and some players will be able to participate in these technical testing phases. For the occasion, a first draft of specifications has surfaced!

Battlefield 2042 : a big configuration required ?

Battlefield 2042 configurations

For the time being, EA/Dice have communicated the following features to play the title. Be careful though, these may change between now and the game’s release.

  • Minimum:
    • CPU : AMD FX-8350 or Intel Core i5 6600K
    • RAM : 8 GB
    • GPU : AMD RADEON RX 560 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
  • Recommended:
    • CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7 4790
    • RAM: 16 GB
    • GPU: AMD RADEON RX 5600 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

Roughly speaking, the announced configurations are far from being greedy, especially for running the game at a minimum. Indeed, an 8-core FX and a GTX 1050 Ti is not what you would call violent, especially with today’s criteria.

As for the recommended configuration, it also remains affordable, with mid-range graphics cards of old generation. Nevertheless, it will be necessary to turn to DirectX 12 compatible hardware to play the game, which will have a negative impact on owners of older cards. Finally, it should be noted that the required storage has not yet been revealed. Let’s hope it doesn’t require 200GB for the game.
