Another price hike for AMD graphics cards is on the horizon for August. According to Channel Gate via WeChat, there will be a minimum increase of 10% , with no announced upper limit. Cards with more memory could therefore see a price increase of more than 10%. Under these circumstances, AMD is following in NVIDIA’s footsteps. Some say that AMD waited for NVIDIA to raise its prices before adjusting its own prices accordingly!

Of course, the reasons cited for this price hike relate to the memory shortage that’s currently raging. As a result,VRAM has become a resource for which demand exceeds supply, leading to higher prices. AMD, which sells GPU +VRAM kits to its partners so they can assemble graphics cards, has had to raise its prices.
We’re talking about an increase of at least 10%, with no upper limit mentioned. Consequently, we can assume that the RX 9070 (XT), which features 16 GB of memory, will see its price rise by more than 10%. Conversely, the more modest 8 GB models are expected to see a 10% price increase. It’s hard to say whether the newly launched RX 9050 will also be affected, unless AMD has already factored these increases into its pricing.
AMD reportedly waited for NVIDIA:
As you know, NVIDIA recently implemented a price increase. The theory is that AMD let its competitor make the move first before raising its own prices in turn. The reason is simple: to best adjust its new pricing to fully compete with its rival. This is also why prices weren’t raised in July. Keep in mind that AMD currently offers cards only in the entry-level and mid-range segments. The RX 9070 XT competes with the RTX 5070 Ti, but beyond that, the company doesn’t offer any solutions that can compete with an RTX 5080 or an RTX 5090, for example.
