As for Asus and the EEC, we find a massive repository of graphics card references. In fact, the Taiwanese brand has registered no fewer than 64 card models. These are based on the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT.
Why has Asus registered 64 RX 7800 XT and 7700 XT?
When you look at the EEC listing , the number of references makes your head spin. Indeed, 64 references is a lot… It really is. In the lot, we find cards from the Strix series, TUF Gaming versions, Duals and ProArts. What’s more, each model is also available in different colors, from white to black. And if we look in more detail, we have “T”, “A”, OC and non-OC versions.
In the end, you might well ask why Asus has so many references? The manufacturer’s ranges have never contained so many different models, even in the case of NVIDIA’s RTXs. The reason is simple: they reserve the names for themselves. So, by registering their references in this way, they are attributed to them and no-one else can exploit them in their place.
On the other hand, if you suspect that there won’t be 32 7700 XT references and 32 7800 XT refs, this may give some indication. For example, there’s a ProArt series (White), meaning that the brand can offer its series in a new color, and the same goes for the Strix series, for example.
Now it remains to be seen what Asus will do with such a wealth of names!
