When Arrow Lake was first launched on desktop, it wasn’t all fun and games. In fact, the Core Ultra 200s suffered from poor gaming performance, doing worse than the previous generation, the Core i 14000s. However, things are on the mend for the Blues. The company has issued a press release to let us know that updates have been rolled out, with more to come. Patch 0x114 is currently being validated and will be rolled out in January 2025.

Things are looking up for Arrow Lake!

Intel Arrow Lake performance

In broad terms, the five-page document shared by the company states that the Blues have found the causes that were hampering the performance of the Core U 200. They identified five points:

  • A missing performance and power management package (PPM)
  • The Intel Application Performances Optimizer (APO) that might not be taking effect
  • Blue screens when launching games using Easy Anti-Cheat
  • Some performance settings misconfigured on early bios
  • New performance optimisations in the bios.

The company has now announced that it has resolved four of these five issues, which were the causes of the Core U 200 problems. We understand that the fixes have been deployed via Windows 11 updates and bios updates.

As for patch 0x114, the one that proved disappointing according to the first tests, you should know that it will arrive definitively in January 2025, although depending on the brand it could arrive later or later. The company and motherboard manufacturers are currently in the validation phase. According to the Blues, we can expect “a single-digit improvement in performance” in percentage terms.

The question now is, how did this happen? Indeed, before launching their CPUs, Intel must have tested them internally and the company must have been aware that there was a performance problem at play. Now the company finds itself having to release patches all over the place to make up for it, which shows a certain lack of seriousness or a hasty launch.
