We’re off to server processors, with the Epyc 9755 making its appearance on the net via @9550pro. The leaker shows us the CPU configuration, which is currently in the engineering sample stage. Clearly, it’s a sight to behold!
Epyc 9755: 128 cores and 650 MB cache!
At present, the processor is only at the engineering sample stage, so some elements are likely to change. We’re thinking in particular of the operating frequency, which for the moment is a basic 2.70 GHz, with a boost that can reach 4.10 GHz. However, we’re talking about a processor with a total of 128 cores and 256 threads!
Another factor to consider is cache memory. There’s plenty of it, with 512 MB of L3 coupled with 128 MB of L2 and 10 MB L1. By way of comparison, the current Epyc 9654 offers 384 MB of cache in total, a 69% increase in favor of the new model.
In more detail, we learn that this reference benefits from a total of 16 CCDs, each containing 8 Zen 5 cores. Otherwise, on the TDP side, you’ll have to hang on and opt for a high-performance cooling system, estimated at 500W.
However, the screenshot actually shows a dual-socket platform with two processors in operation. This translates into a platform with 256 cores, 512 threads, 1 GB of L3, 256 MB of L2 and 20 MB of L1.
Last but not least, we’re also talking about another processor, the Epyc 9965, which this time features efficient Zen 5C cores. It has a total of 192 cores and 384 threads, also with a TDP of 500W.
