Moore’s Law is Dead is the source of a new rumour about NVIDIA’s next generation of graphics cards. In a video, he shares a photo of the chip in question. Well, it’s clearly an engineering sample, but all the same!
RTX 5080M: say cheese!
On the programme, we have a photo of an engineering sample of what is supposed to be an RTX 5080M, the laptop variant . As you can see, the GPU has an elongated shape, unlike the AD104 used for the RTX 4080 mobile. Similarly, the PCB on which the GPU is mounted is rectangular. This change in shape is not insignificant, as it is linked to the change in pinout due to the use of GDDR7 memory chips.
In terms of specifications, it’s hard to draw any conclusions, but the leaker does indicate that the chip contains 8,196 cuda cores. The GB203 would also be used to produce desktop RTXs such as the RTX 5080, as well as the potential RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070. All that remains is to see how these variants will be cut.
Finally, with this, we have a leaked Clevo datasheet. On it, we can see that the GPUs labelled GN22 come in six X11/X9/X7/X6/X4/X2 variants.
