A photo shows the back of a Nova Lake processor

In addition to the recent rumors surrounding future generations of graphics cards, there’s also plenty to talk about when it comes to future processors. While a first image of a LGA-1954 socket recently emerged, this time it’s a supposed photo of the rear of a CPU that has surfaced, the part with all the processor pins. This part is interesting, as it reveals some interesting details about the future generation of CPUs from the blue.

Nova Lake: supposed photo of a CPU!

A few small changes at the back:

From what we can see, the CPU shown in the photo brings a few small changes compared to current generations. The first thing you notice is the position of the coded pins, which allow the CPU to be inserted correctly into its socket. On Arrow Lake processors, the coded pins are positioned closer to the corners of the CPU, which is not the case here. With this CPU, they are positioned more towards the inside of the processor.

Unfortunately, the network of contacts and capacitors in the center of the processor doesn’t tell us anything about the type of CPU or the number of cores operating internally. What’s more, we can see that two types of pins are present at the rear. In the center, we have elongated ones, while a series of small dots surround the processor. Once again, the architecture is new and we can’t yet say which pin is used for what. But the central region is generally used for communication between the CPU and the motherboard. In contrast, the peripheral contacts are allocated to test and validation processes.

No photo of the IHS:

As yet, we have no photos of the IHS. However, the user who posted the photo indicates that it looks similar to what was already being done in the blue. However, with this generation, we shouldn’t be hearing any more about deformed CPUs due to the pressure exerted by the locking mechanism. This pressure should be better distributed on the IHS thanks to its double-lever system.

Obviously, all this should be taken with a pinch of salt, as this is a leak and Intel has neither confirmed nor denied the source of this snapshot. On the other hand, it means that pre-production copies are already in circulation.
