Silverstone has announced a new case, the CS240. This model is designed to accommodate NAS setups, thanks to four hot-swappable storage bays. Of course, the footprint remains compact, although you can build a fairly high-performance configuration if you’re so inclined… There’s still 30 cm of clearance for a daughter card spanning two slots!

Can it handle more than just a NAS?
In terms of dimensions, this is a truly compact case measuring 211 (W) x 360 (D) x 285 (H) mm. The weight, though not specified, shouldn’t be an issue either. In any case, it supports mini-ITX, mini-DTX, and Deep mini-ITX motherboards.
As for the rest of the components, you’ll have plenty of leeway regarding the height of your CPU cooler, since this model accommodates coolers up to 182 mm tall. As for the daughter card, it measures 300 mm in length and 168 mm in width, spanning two expansion slots. You should be able to install high-end RTX 50 cards… In Founders Edition. As for the power supply, it’s compatible with SFX and SFX-L units. Considering that some power supplies in this format go up to 1000W, that’s plenty of headroom!
As for cooling, the case comes with a pre-installed 120 mm fan at the rear as standard, along with two more on the side. The side fans can be replaced with three 80 mm fans.
Storage:
As for storage—accessible from the front panel—the CS240 offers four drive bays compatible with 2.5-inch drives. In terms of supported interfaces, it includes SAS, SATA, and U.2 NVMe via two Slim SAS 8i connectors. Finally, at the top of the case, there is a fifth drive bay compatible with both 2.5″ and 3.5″ drives, though it is not hot-swappable.
A high price:
Unfortunately, the price tag remains steep, as this case is listed on Alternate.fr for €343.
