ASUS has unveiled a new keyboard that fits into its ProArt product range. This model is therefore aimed at the professional sector. Here, ergonomics are emphasized rather than features such as an 8000 Hzpolling rate or RGBÂ lighting galore. In fact, when you see the advertised battery life for this model, you might think it’s a joke.
ASUS ProArt KD300: 16 months of battery life?!?!?!?!?!?
With this keyboard, ASUS offers us a 65% format model. In other words, it loses its numeric keypad and F-key row while retaining its arrow keys and a few navigation keys. The result is a compact model, especially since it features low-profile keys, limiting its height to only 26.8 mm.
It is also a wireless keyboard that offers three different connection modes: Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz, and USB. As a wireless keyboard, it has a battery that will provide 16 months of battery life, according to the keyboard’s product page. Normally, it only needs to be recharged once a year.
In terms of technology, the brand relies on its red optical switches. These provide a linear typing feel. In addition, the actuation force is 45g with an accentuation point at 1 mm. In short, it’s short (pun intended) and doesn’t require much pressure to activate the key. What’s more, the profile of the switch stem makes it very difficult to change the keycaps.
In addition, the keyboard retains its touch strip, inherited directly from the ROG Falchion RX. The latter can be configured for scrolling, sound management, etc.
In terms of price, the first appearances of this model suggest a cost of 999 yuan in China, or $145 after conversion.
