RTX 5090 Matrix: the card weighs 3.2 kg!

A quick look back at this famous ASUS RTX 5090 Matrix Platinum, which is unfortunately already sold out at LDLC. Indeed, when the card went on sale, stocks were quickly depleted. On the other hand, with 1,000 units worldwide, there’s no doubt that the allocation for France wasn’t huge. However, some lucky people have already received their cards, and photos of the unpacking are already available!

Broadly speaking, the card arrives in a large D-shaped box, which of course contains the card itself. The latter, as you can see, is a veritable monster, easily covering an ASUS ROG Astral while being at least as thick.

Of course, the card also benefits from a magnificent four-fan heatsink. The latter pays homage to the first cards of the same name, with a rounded shape at the rear. The heatsink is particularly well designed. It features a steam chamber to maximize cooling performance… Not to mention the numerous heat pipes at work. In any case, all this adds up to a particularly heavy card: 3.2 kg on the scales. Fortunately, ASUS has integrated tilt detection.

Note the 12V-2×6 connector at the top and the GC-HPWR in the PCIe extension. The latter integrates features linked to extreme overclocking, such as the Memory Defroster for de-icing VRAM chips.

In short, a very high-end anniversary card produced in limited series and made for the OC. We could insist that it benefits from an 800W power consumption limit, but you already know that.
