Following on from DeepCool and its CH170 Digital, Fractal Design has announced its Era 2, a new generation of Era cases that continue to adopt a compact format for ITX configurations, while incorporating wooden elements.
Era 2: ITX with wood!
The programme includes a case available in a range of colours, with black, grey and blue looking really good. The top part features an attractive piece of wood, walnut with an openwork design to let the air through. Finally, the aluminium body can be removed by lifting it from the top.
Internally, there is a motherboard tray for ITX format references. This can be adjusted laterally to leave more or less space for the graphics part. As far as the graphics card is concerned, it has a length of 326 mm and a thickness of up to three slots.
However, the CPU cooler space is not expansive, with only 70 mm of free height. Fortunately, the upper part of the case is removable, allowing the watercooling radiator to be fitted at a maximum height of 280 mm.
On the ventilation side, at the bottom and by default, there are two 120 mm fans mounted in suction. This can be supplemented by adding two 120/140 mm mills at the top… If you haven’t already fitted a watercooling radiator.
In short, a small case that looks very nice, especially in blue. All that remains is to find out the retail price, which is likely to be high.
