In Q2 2024, AMD improves its gross profit by 17% year-on-year

AMD publishes its financial results for the third quarter of 2024, and the results are encouraging. From one quarter to the next, the figures are up… The same goes for year-on-year comparisons. Compared with Q2 2023, gross profits are up 17%!

AMD: encouraging financial results!

AMD résultats financiers T2 2024As you can see, AMD is in good health. Indeed, the brand’s sales are up on the previous quarter… But also compared with the same period last year. In fact, this quarter, the brand posted sales of $5.8 billion, compared with $5.3 billion in Q2 2023. This represents an increase of 9% year-on-year and 7% compared with Q1 2024. However, what’s interesting here are the gross profits, which are up 17% year-on-year and 12% quarter-on-quarter.

Among the company’s most buoyant sectors is the Data Center division ($2.8 billion), which carries the game. Data Center sales rose by 115% year-on-year. It has to be said that demand for AI hardware is stronger than ever, while the Reds, with their Epyc processors, are in a strong position vis-à-vis Intel.

Secondly, the customer segment was in the spotlight, generating $1.5 billion, a 49% increase on last year. Once again, this sector was buoyed by strong sales of Ryzen processors… But also the bad fortune of Intel with its 13th and 14th generation Core i stability problems.

Unfortunately, the gaming sector was down 59% on last year, with sales of $648 million. This is due to a drop in sales of semi-customs, i.e. game consoles. Things are running out of steam, and we can’t wait for the new generations of PS5 and XBox to revitalize things.

Finally, embedded sales are also taking a beating, down 41% on Q2 2023. Sales fell to $861 million.
