Crucial announces the P310 SSD series, a range with capacities of up to 2TB. The ideal kind of SSD for everything to do with portable consoles or Microsoft’s Surface.
P310: up to 2TB in M.2 2230 format!
This SSD series is currently available in two capacities: 1TB and 2TB. In any case, this already represents a substantial upgrade in storage space for a portable console. Typically, this type of machine boasts 512 GB of storage.
Internally, these references benefit from a Phison E27T memory controller managing a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. However, there’s no DRAM cache here. As for the memory used, it remains to be seen what type it is.
In any case, the brand claims performance of up to 7.1 GB/s in sequential read mode, compared with 6 GB/s in sequential write mode. In terms of random read performance, Crucial claims a million IOPS. Finally, in terms of endurance, the 1TB version boasts 220 TBW, compared with 440 TBW for the 2TB version.
Prices are not cheap, with the 1TB model priced at €129.59, compared with €269.99 for the 2TB version.
